CampBiz – September, 2014

We hope you enjoy this special issue of Camp with our annual MGRA Rodeo supplement at the back of the print magazine. It’s always our pleasure to work with MGRA organizers on their rodeo program guide, and we look forward to attending the Labor Day weekend rodeo at the Lone Wolf Ranch Arena in Cleveland, Missouri. The rodeo is a great time. If you haven’t been, make plans to be there this year.
The month of August is drawing to a close with some great news in our LGBT community.
We were represented at the Gay Games 9, which was in Cleveland Ohio. Randy Hite, a member of the Heartland Men’s Chorus and Frontrunners and an active volunteer in our community, won a third-place medal in his age category for the 10K race, with a time of 49:16, and 8:10 pace. Volunteers and competitors from the Missouri Gay Rodeo Association were at the IGRA rodeo affiliated with the Games, and Ryan Reed won a 2nd place medal in Calf Roping on Foot.
Bear Crossing, our cover story in the August issue, was a great success, with more attendees than the organizers could have predicted in their inaugural event. We’ll have a full report in the October issue of Camp, including the plans for Bear Crossing 2015. Their Friday night meet and greet at the LIKEME Lighthouse welcomed visitors to Kansas City with over 40 pounds of barbecued brisket, prepared by Lighthouse director Char Daniels and board member Cathy Jambrosic.
Here are a few of the events coming up in September and October.
