After years of being known as the purple building in the Crossroads, Hamburger Mary’s restaurant and bar is completing its move to the new Midtown location. By December, if not sooner, Mary’s will open in the former space of the Conspiracy Room in the Uptown Theater complex at 3700 Broadway, Suite 110, next to Industry Video Bar.
As previously reported in Camp (Hamburger Mary’s), this move is part of a four-part bar/restaurant plan by ECCO Holdings to establish not only Industry Video Bar and Hamburger Mary’s next to the Uptown Theater, but also, in phases three and four, to open a sports bar and Tex-Mex restaurant in the Uptown Shops spaces across the street.
But for now, owners Eric Christensen and Jeff Edmondson are not even thinking about those plans, as they focus on opening at the new Hamburger Mary’s location.
“I think we’ll be open before December. That’s what we’re pushing for,” said Edmondson.
“The last event we have planned would be Sunday brunch. Everything would be ready to move in. All we have to do is shut down after Sunday brunch, and it will be all hands on deck for all of our staff. We’ll pack and be moving stuff Sunday night. The kitchen will move into place on Monday, and then the rest of Monday will mean moving the critical things we need to be open on Tuesday evening.”
The space was formerly a bar but not a restaurant, so the new owners had to build a kitchen with exhaust venting, new electrical work and much more.
Edmondson and Christensen said they will be able to use the new kitchen of Hamburger Mary’s for a late-night menu for Industry Video Bar that’s different from the Mary’s menu.
Christensen and Edmondson said they would be moving some furniture to the new location, but not all of it.
