Join AIDS Walk to Honor Steve Metzler’s Legacy

To the editor:
AIDS Walk Kansas City and our entire community have lost a beloved and cherished friend, Steve Metzler, who passed away suddenly on March 24. In 1992, Steve and some forward-thinking local leaders started the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City. He served as president of the board for the foundation’s first 10 years. He supported all of the AIDS service organizations and events with his time, talent and treasure over the last 25 years.
The AIDS Walk Steering Committee will host this year’s AIDS Walk in honor of Steve’s memory. Steve was the Walk’s biggest cheerleader, advocate and torchbearer. His life is a testament to the belief that one person can make a difference. Steve made huge differences for our city’s HIV/AIDS community, for the arts and for youth initiatives. We will always remember him as a visionary, a leader, and a pioneer.
Please join us Saturday, April 25, and walk with us in memory of Steve’s well-lived life. Come be a part of his legacy. Together we will continue down the path where he so clearly and jubilantly led us in order to support those living with HIV/AIDS.
