Justus and James Win in Kansas City Election

Jolie Justus won her City Council race for the Fourth District on June 23 and becoming the first openly gay City Council member in Kansas City. From 2007 to 2014, Justus represented Missouri as an openly gay state senator, and now she’ll bring her dedication to her constituents to City Hall. We congratulate Justus for running a positive campaign and for her overwhelming victory.

Congratulations also to Mayor Sly James for his election to a second term. He has continually proven himself to be a powerful ally to the LGBT community in Kansas City. We also extend our congratulations to all the other winners in City Council races who represent the community of all races, genders and sexual orientations.
